CNW C628 6730 leading a SD40 and GP35 departs eastbound on a bitterly cold day from CNW's E. Mpls yard, passes Burlington Northern's St. Anthony Tower and is just about to pass under Raymond Ave. Thirty C628s CNW 6701-6730, built as Norfolk and Western 1100-1129, were leased to C&NW in February 1973 and purchased in June 1973. After two years of service on the Twin Cities Division, the thirty C628s were transferred to ore service on the Lake Shore Division.
