Remarks & Notes |
The early northbound Sounder creeps over the Salmon Bay Bridge just after the sun disappears behind a cloud. Built in 1908 by the Army Corps of Engineers, the Ballard Locks stand in the background to keep Lakes Washington and Union about 20' above mean high tide and to provide a lift to boats between the Lake and Sound. Note that Sound Transit's F59PHI #908 is painted in a special scheme for breast cancer awareness and Seattle's "Race for the Cure".
