| SP 171 was part of an order of AC4400CW's which, while not significant in themselves, were significant in the history of the SP as the last group of locomotives purchased by the carrier. #171 is coming down off Donner Pass into the West end of Truckee, running on what was then the #2 main track. A few years later the UP reversed the numbers and that became the #1 track although still primarily the Eastward main. |
