The Del Monte Plant was a major customer for the SN in Yuba City as 654 worked on a hot summer day in 1964. On this day, half a world away, an event unfolded which would become known as "The Gulf of Tonkin Incident". Today 654 resides at the Western Railway Museum in Rio Vista. The Del Monte Plant is gone, replaced by a street along with city offices and condos, leaving no sign of what I photographed that day 43 years ago.
