From an easily accessible vantage point near the east end of Woodford, segments of the railroad are visible on three different levels. Long trains such as this one can be seen simultaneously on two of the three levels, the uppermost being Walong, better known as the Tehachapi Loop. We wiped the sweat from our brows as BNSF 7516, NS 6590 and BNSF 949 lead and east bound stack train around the Loop, minutes after the lady in the detector at M.P. 347.0 had announced that the "ambient temperature" was 106 degrees.
