It's the first of June, 1978, and southern California's "June Gloom" covers the sky as Union Pacific SD45 3648 heads west past the site of the UP's now razed station in Pomona. The parallel mainline, just to the left of the chain link fence, is Southern Pacific's Sunset Route.
