Remarks & Notes |
A colorful SEPTA Strafford car in SEPTA's Bicentennial red, white and blue scheme is living out its final days in commute service; seen here grinding and whining on its way to Norristown. This Brill Strafford cars were delivered in 1927 and were among the oldest operating interurban cars in the country by 1984. Little did I know at the time, but this would be my last visit to the Norristown High-Speed Line before the old cars were retired. Car #164 was retired in 1986, and all Straffords were retired by 1990. Car #164 is now at East Troy Electric Railroad. |
