Remarks & Notes |
NG143 takes water in readiness to haul the 1525 departure to Rhyd Ddu. This locomotive was built in Manchester in 1958 for service in South Africa and members of this class are the largest 2ft gauge locomotives in the world. The railway possesses two others of the same class.
The Welsh Highland Railway is being re-built back to Porthmadog, where it will join up with the Ffestiniog Railway. Tracks already extend from Rhyd Ddu to the foot of the Aberglaslyn Pass near Beddgelert and on the day this photo was taken, a works train was seen there along with a film crew and phtotographers. |
