Remarks & Notes
A putt-putt waits patiently while 4102-4354 (MP15) gets their freight off the Frisco onto the RI. The southbound detouring from Poteau over the Frisco swings over to the RI before getting back on the KCS at Howe. Neither the RI nor the SLSF were capable of handling SDs so KCS substituted GP30s, Fs, and MP15s for the detour trains. Note the standard steam engine boiler tube station sign and the foundations of the former depot.

KCS before the Belle

While Kansas City Southern's modern 'Southern Belle' scheme might be the most striking modern Class I scheme, the grey, white, and even Deramus red paint of KCS in the 1970s-1990s has an allure of its own. This album showcases vintage KCS from the GP30/SD
