The crew gets their local train ready to shove from J Yard over to 4th Street Yard with the Sears Tower in the background. The 1.8 million-square-foot warehouse was built in 1927 to support Sears' catalogue business. 200,000 square feet was sectioned off for use as a department store--the first time a national retailer opened in Boyle Heights. The store is still open, but the rest of the building is derelict, passing through the hands of one developer after another, with plans to turn it into a condominium complex.
