Dropping back 48 years from my last post! I wonder if this kind of log dumping is still done. These particular logs were hauled into Tuolumne by the three-foot gauge Shays of the West Side Lumber Company railroad during its last season of operation. What I like about this picture are the details: the old Chevy parked in the background, the guy will the rolled up jeans bottoms, and so on. And note the points for the gauntlet track under the log car, the shays would not clear the bulkhead. Another old grainy faded Anscochrome resurrected by Photoshop.
A tribute of appreciation to the workers who maintain the track, keeping our railways in shape regardless of weather and danger, and keeping them running effeciently.
