Remarks & Notes
Edward Thompson's lasting legacy from his time as Chief Mechanical Engineer to the LNER are his excellent 'B1' mixed traffic 4-6-0's. Arguably the equal of the LMS's 'Black 5's', the 'B1's also carried other liveries than black! Here is 1264 in wonderful early May sunshine, showing off the glorious apple green livery she wore briefly in her LNER days.
