Remarks & Notes |
The 155 British Railways 'Standard' 2-6-4 tanks were a development of earlier designs for the London Midland & Scottish Railway under sucessive Chief Mechanical Engineers - Sir Henry Fowler, Sir William Stanier and Charles Fairburn. Very powerful and thoroughly modern machines they were well-suited to all traffic except long-distance expresses. One of 15 to escape the cutter's torch, 80002 is seen at Stubbing Gate in fully lined black livery. She wears it well. |
