Remarks & Notes |
One of Britain's most friendly railways is the gorgeous Lakeside & Haverthwaite in the beautiful English Lake District. They own both surviving examples of these LMS designed (but British Railways built) 2-6-4 tanks. Non-UK viewers may be mystified by such terms as '4MT', '3P' or '9F' - the following is an explanation. Power classifications are graded 0 to 9 and main design usage is 'F' for freight, 'P' for passenger or 'MT' for mixed traffic. There - you're all experts now! |
