GWR 6000 Class 4-6-0 no. 6024 “King Edward I” passes Hay bridge with the Royal Train. This was the first visit of the Royal Train to the Severn Valley Railway, and the first time it had been steam-hauled on any preserved railway. It was also the first visit by HRH the Prince of Wales to the line, which was postponed from last year due to the devastating floods. Note the Fleur-de-Lys -- the Prince of Wales’ badge -- adorning the smokebox door. This particular headboard is believed to be the Cambrian Railways Royal Train headboard from 1900.
