Remarks & Notes |
CKF was visting his late father's hometown of San Diego by train when he grabbed this shot of his ride back to LA, a "San Diegan" powered by F40PH #229, pulling a string of Amfleet (aka cigar tubes). The large macadam area between the 1915 Santa Fe Depot and the tracks once held the original San Diego station buildng. Today it holds two tracks of the San Diego Trolley. The structure behind the depot is the original San Diego Gas & Electric Building. F40PH #229 was the last unit in the first ever order of this model and was delivered 4/76, making her ten-years-old in this shot. |
