As a precursor to his more famous 'Black 5' 4-6-0's, the 5MT Mogul had neat, uncluttered lines. It was Sir William Stanier's first design for the LMS and owed much to his time with the Great Western Railway. Indeed, add a copper-capped chimney, a brass safety valve bonnet and there would be little doubt as to the lineage. Here she is climbing away from Ingrow past Staveley Road.
