Remarks & Notes
Conversation piece at Haworth Motive Power Depot. It is to be hoped that the safety valves do not lift! Almost seven hundred '8F's' saw service in the UK and many more were shipped to Europe and the Middle East during WW2. Many contractors were involved in their construction from 1935 onwards and 48431 is a Swindon-built example from 1944.
