Hest Bank crossing footbridge is still a great place to watch West Coast main line action. Left of the signal box were the water troughs and Hest Bank Station is on the right. This view is taken from the sea shore. From the Morecambe to Carnforth main road, the level crossing merely allows access to the shore, a shop and a caravan site. This scene is still recognisable today, though the Austin 1100 (thanks Keith & Chris!), the dustbins, the lattice ironwork and the signalman's bicycle are all consigned to history. Perhaps this '9F' was one of the nine survivors?
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
