Remarks & Notes
Conrail's "Dirt Train" begins its journey from Wayne, NJ to Jersey City with fill being moved from the construction of the northern end of Interstate 287. The trailing C36-7 is used to facilitate switching at the dirt excavation site. Sadly, there is much missing from this scene today: Conrail is just a memory, the ore jennies were retired after the Dirt Train ended, and the DL&W signal bridge was torn down shortly after this shot was taken.
