Working only its second railtour since the completion of restoration in July, 'Scots Guardsman' crosses the River Weaver with a Carnforth to Chester excursion. The foreground - barge, buildings and general clutter - could be straight out of the 1960s, with only the modern industrial plant and motorway bridge, visible through the arches of the viaduct, betraying the modern era. The barge 'Panary' is the last working Mersey grain barge and dates from 1937 - 10 years after 'Scots Guardsman' was built, but 10 years before it was rebuilt to the form seen here.
