Remarks & Notes |
The LIRR's "Heritage Units", 104 and 102 return to Jamaica from Greenport with a Long Island Sunrise Trail Chapter-NRHS excursion. These colors were first introduced on the LIRR back in the early 1960's.
These units are known as "protect" units. During the morning and afternoon rush hour they sit at Harold Interlocking in Queens. They are kept on stand by to rescue an MU train should it become disabled in the East River tunnels. |
