Bearing its designer's name, A4 Class No.60007, 'Sir Nigel Gresley' is the flagship locomotive at the NYMR. Its striking blue livery was chosen after nationalisation of Britain's railways in 1948, only to be replaced in the early 50's by the Brunswick Green eventually worn by all 34 of the class until withdrawal. It seems incredible this iconic design of locomotive is now over 70 years old. Doesn't 'Sir Nigel' still look as fresh as a moors morning, complimented by a perfect Yorkshire sky of azure? You bet'cha!
