Milwaukee Road's Afternoon Hiawatha exits the tunnel westbound. To compare this view to other eras, click on "Tunnel City" (above) for other shots in the railpictures.net archive. Engine 100C went into service 11/51, painted in the classic MILW 2-tone maroon/orange colors, and was retired 5/80.
