| New Zealand Railways J-class not selden reached speeds around 110 kph or even more on the "racetrack" through the Canterbury Plains south of Christchurch towards Dunedin. Today the track condition hardly allow this any more, the locomotive is restricted to 80 and the second auxiliary tender (with fuel) to 70 kph. Jb 1236 on a runpast during Mainline Steam's 2008 tour. |
