One of the most noted features of railroads on the former CRR and Appalachia are the use of tunnels. In order for railroads to be built through the rugged, mountainous topography of this region the use of these bores were necessary in order to get the goods to market. Engine 862 is working a helper assignment on this day as it exits the south end of Hills Mills tunnel. |
