Remarks & Notes |
A three car train bound for Hoboken crosses the Passaic River spanning Newark and Kearny. This bridge, built by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad was built with two levels to maximize its capacity. The upper level was designed for passenger service and is still in use by NJ Transit today. The lower level was designed for freight trains servicing the industrial Newark area, but no longer sees any trains and is used for storage by NJ Transit. The Interstate 280 Stickel Drawbridge can be seen in the background. |
