What could have been finer on Sunday, May 12, 1985 to have this set of power on Milwaukee Road train #228 heading west from Bensenville Yard across northern Illinois? A pair of Milwaukee Road GP40s, led by the 2066 (one of only three GP40s that received the Hiawatha paint scheme) and the 2033 lead the MKT road slug set of 226, 501 and 227 as they are about to duck under the HWY 72 overpass at 4:15 p.m. The engineer on this train was Tom Lampman. Although I didn't know "Lampy" back then, he's a good friend of mine now-- and we both wish there were Hiawatha locos to shoot from the HWY 72 overpass.
