Conrail had a Southern Tier employee picnic at Tioga-Hammond Lakes Park and brought the employees in on this train that ran from Port Jervis to just south of Tioga, PA via the Southern Tier Line to Corning, NY and then the Corning Secondary. Here we see the train parked at the south west end of Hammond Reservoir. Lead E8 # 4021 is now restored as PRR # 5711, it’s original number. Former numbers include PRR # 5711, PRR and PC # 4311, Amtrak # 317 & # 499. Went to CSX and was stored as CR # 4021 before sale. Trailing E8 # 4020 is now restored as PRR # 5809, it’s original number. Former numbers include PRR # 5809, PRR and PC # 4309, Amtrak # 496. Unit briefly became NS # 1000 before sale. At this point Conrail still owned the Corning Secondary but the tracks had been pulled south of Wellsboro and it was no longer a thru route.
