| In the early monring hours, A712s power rest after completing it's work for the eavning at 01:57. The jobs power rest behind the yard office while awaiting it's next assighnment that will come at 06:30 on A716. CSXT GP40-2 6971 was built in January 1980 as CR 3387 then after the Conrail merger it became the CSXT 4446. After being modified for a slug mother in 2008, it was again renumbered to 6971 and is mated to CSXT 2371. It's hard to beleive that these late model GP40-2s can be considered as "Old". EMD I'm sure had hopes that by now railroads would consider replacing such models, but these units have many more years of service to offer. But then again, EMD has not offered any suitable four axel low to medium horse power road switcher. |
