Remarks & Notes |
SA31 crosses the first of four bridges over the Manalapan Brook on the recently downgraded Freehold Industrial Track. The line was first built in 1853 as the Jamesburg Agricultural Railroad (aka the F&J) running between Freehold (east) and the Camden & AMboy at Jamesburg. The bridges on the F&J were originally wooden, but were all replaced by modern concrete strucures like the one shown here when the PRR took control of the line in the early 1900s except the bridge over Lake Manalapan. The wooden supports of the original bridges can be seen underwater directly below each concrete bridge. |
