Nicknamed "Dukedogs" since they were an amalgamation of the chassis of a Bulldog class with the boiler of a Duke class locomotive, the parts of this loco are thus actually older than the 1938 "building" date suggests. The locomotive is usually resident on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex UK, but has recently been on short term loan to the Llangollen Railway in Wales. During the loan, much to the delight of photographers the locomotive was repainted in 1950s British Railways black livery and finished off with it's BR number 9017. A number of photographic charters were arranged at the end of March featuring both goods and passenger consists. A typical 1950s passenger train in seen here in rural surroundings at Garth-y Dwr.
