Remarks & Notes |
A pair of GEs struggle to drag what seems to be a mile-long box of Crayola crayons through Trinidad Loop, an unheralded engineering marvel laid out by the Great Northern that allowed the railroad to maintain a continuous 1% compensated grade from the bank of the Columbia River to the Columbia Basin plateau at Quincy, gaining more than 715 feet of elevation in 14 miles. |
