Remarks & Notes |
BNSF Railway 1201 and 1203 are liquified natural gas fueled MK1200G locomotives. Only four were built, and they are all in service on the Los Angeles Junction Railway in Vernon, California, near downtown Los Angeles. The 1201 is the former Santa Fe 1201 (constructed on the frame of C&O GP9 6149) while 1203 is ex-Union Pacific 1299 (SBD GP9 2358 contributed the frame). Photographed on railroad property with permission and while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). |
