The Last Class One: Union Pacific's Plummer Local, seen here on a nice spring afternoon in May 2008, may look like nothing special. But you'd be wrong. It holds the title as being one of the last Class One Branchline Locals to remain in the Palouse region of eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. A century after Harriman and Hill battled it out for control of the Palouse, this branch is the only one left in the hands of Omaha. |
