Another look back to July 2008 and The Great Reunion at the National Railway Museum at York. On that day, as a one-off, all four remaining UK-based A4 streamliners were assembled together. This was the first time for over 40 years that such a sight was possible. After 60009 Union of South Africa had departed, along with most of the crowds, the sun came out giving the chance for a few nice shots of the remaining three. Here we see 60019 Bittern, 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and 4468 Mallard, the fastest steam locomotive in the world, having reached 126mph in July 1938, 70 years earlier. Some sight eh?
