Remarks & Notes |
Not what one generally thinks of when they think of the Alaska Railroad, the APU spur is one of my personal favorite photo locations. This obscure little branch leads one mile off the ARR mainline to service a half dozen small industries and features the closest thing to street running to be found in Alaska. On this day the crew is walking slowly down the street to board the lead tank car and protect their shove back to the mainline. The Chugach Mountains provide their ever present back drop on this stunning warm spring Saturday afternoon. Note: photographed from public property. |
