| A detector stops our train in the middle of nowhere. The crew has to walk the full length of the train becasue the wheel indicated by the detector showed no problems. I got off my sleeping car and expected to step on soft sand. I found hard clay and crystallized alkali instead. 105 degrees and no place to go. in the 70s riding AMTRAK was a real adventure |
