Remarks & Notes |
Northbound coal empties with four spotless SD70MACs in charge approach Portage-Glacier Road for a crew change before continuing on to Anchorage. Note the "ghost trees" in the foreground, petrified and preserved over 45 years ago after the 1964 Good Friday earthquake. The earth in this area dropped 15-20ft during the quake, exposing the previously elevated trees to the salty waters of the Turnagain Arm; and giving us this beautiful distinctly Alaskan scene today! |
