Remarks & Notes |
NGG16 Class 2-6-2+2-6-2T number 143 has just left Rhyd Ddu with a service for Caernarfon. Built in 1958, 143 is oil fired and was the last steam locomotive to be built by Beyer Peacock of Manchester. This section of the Welsh Highland was originally opened by the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway in 1877. It wasn't until 1922/23 that the link from Rhyd Ddu to Beddgelert and Porthmadog was built and opened throughout |
