Remarks & Notes |
Welsh Highland Beyer-Garratt 2-6-2+2-6-2T number 87 descends from Rhyd Ddu round the curve at Ffridd-isaf. The first vehicle is the WHR's new Pullman observation car which was beautifully fitted out by the Ffestiniog's Boston Lodge works from a frame supplied by an external contractor. Number 87 is coal fired, was built in Belgium in 1936 and spent its working life in South Africa before moving to the UK as part of the abortive Robin Hoods Bay scheme. The Welsh Highland acquired her from there as a result of a private donation and she entered service in 2009 following overhaul at Boston Lodge. The line swings round from here and continues across the lower reaches of Moel Eilio in the background |
