Rolling westward behind a trio of Amtrak GEs, a GrandLuxe (formerly American Orient Express) summer-2007 "Great Northwest & Rockies" excursion pops out of the cut below Crater Lake and curls along the ledge above Crater Falls on a hot afternoon in eastern Washington. Sadly, this gorgeous excursion train is no longer running, having fallen victim in 2008 to insufficient funds. |
