Remarks & Notes

Twenty years have passed since the old South African Railways (SAR) became Spoornet (and more recently, Transnet Freight Rail), yet a number of Class 6E1 electrics remain in their original SAR red livery with yellow striping. It was a real bonus to get two of them working the Cape Town - Johannesburg "Premier Classe" train, seen here passing the home signal at Suurbekom.
