| What passes for night time in Alaska during the summer! It's still nearly a month away from the summer solstice yet at 1:30 in the morning it never gets truly pitch dark for one to practice their night shooting skills. Still, the perpetual twilight offers some definition to the Chugach Mountains glowing beyond the red signals guarding the ARR mainline here at MP 136.3. The locomomotive is at the head end of an 80 car empty gravel train tied down for the weekend in track 2 of the Birchwood Yard. Note: the photographer is a railroad employee and was wearing all required PPE while taking this photograph. |
