Remarks & Notes |
Built in 1954 as a GP-9 this locomotive was rebuilt to a GP-16 by the SCL in 1979 and re-manufactured by Conrail at Juniata Locomotive Shops in 1993 for the US Army Railroad to use on Mulberry Island. The Fort Eustis Military Railway, or so it was called back in the day, has now become nothing more than a “Back & Forth Railroad” used to support the Army Transportation School which will soon move to Fort Lee. The railhead training will most likely remain here and engineer certification will not move either. |
