Shortly after a line of late-summer thunderstorms rolled through the Wasatch Range, this westbound loaded coal train thundered out of Helper bound for Long Beach, CA. I first photographed the train at Nolan with the storm's clouds looming in the distance, and I couldn't help but be thoroughly impressed by the sounds of eight GEs -- three on the head end, three on the swing helper and two as the DPU -- working flat-out to lift the heavy train upgrade through the Price River canyon.
