Remarks & Notes |
NJ Transit's "Aqua Track" heads west on the Morris & Essex Lines, seen here passing through East Orange. This train was created by NJT in 2003 to combat slippery rail conditions from leaves falling on the tracks during the autumn months. The high pressure rail washing system consists of two 250 horsepower motors, which power two pressure pump units. Each pump operates at 10,000 pounds per square inch and consumes seventeen gallons of water per minute. The locomotive hauling the train is Metro North F40PH-2CAT no. 4194 (a former Amtrak unit). |
