Milwaukee Road 2035 and 2008, both GP40s, sandwich U28B number 5501, sit in the hole as a string of at least 5 EMDs pass them on the main in Cotter Iowa. It was a very rare event in those days, because the Milwaukee Road tried running on the Rock Island, all the way between Kansas City and Quad Cities, as they already had shared trackage from Muscatine to Quad Cities. It only lasted a year as, the RI dispatchers did did not treat the Milwaukee trains very well. So the Milwaukee went back to their own rails. This is a photo taken by Ron Reynolds.
