Remarks & Notes |
The Grand Elk local exits the controlled siding at CP14 just over the Michigan-Indiana state line, headed timetable south for work in nearby Bristol. This CTC dates back to NYC's modernization of the Air Line Branch into a high speed freight main from Jackson MI to Elkhart IN in 1958, combining parts of NYC predecessor lines, and has served four Class 1 masters before Watco took over operations as the Grand Elk RR in 2009. Most of the Air Line trackage in Michigan was ripped up by Conrail by 1980. For a is a nifty web read on that '50's upgrade click here>. |
