Its taken a few visits, but I've finally figured out the secret to railfanning Cajon: look up! Being an Eastern, unless you had a particular clearing in mind, scaling the hillside almost always resulted in a great shot blocked by a ton of trees. Not so out here, where the highest vegetation is lucky to reach eye level.
